OIL PAINTING CLASSES - Instructor: Wini Harrison
Wini is a native of Southern Indiana and has a BA in Fine Arts from Indiana University Southeast. She has taught Oil Painting Classes for the past 13 years and has exhibited work both locally and regionally. Currently she is teaching classes at Preston Arts Center in Louisville, and at the Carriage House Studio for the Arts Council of Southern Indiana.
Every Thursday from 10 AM- 1 PM. Starts January 19th. Ends March 9th.
Cost: $160 for all eight classes.
Description: Painting Studio I: Intro to Oils
- A beginning or review class of oil painting fundamentals. The student will explore oil color, materials and techniques (including glazing) and discuss the elements of art and principles of design to apply towards a finished painting.
Week 1-2 - Discuss color theory, pigment qualities and color mixing. Complete color wheel and color grid.
Week 3-4 - Discuss Painting Materials and Techniques. Complete value study and step by step oil painting exercise.
Weeks 5-8- Discuss elements of design. Choose subject and technical approach for main project. Complete final painting on stretched canvas. Glaze grisaille and color underpainting.

WATERCOLOR CLASSES - Instructor Cathy Hillegas (pictured at right)
Cathy is from Floyds Knobs, IN and has been painting in watercolors since 1993. She has won over 40 awards in both local and national shows. She has been teaching watercolor classes (beginning - advanced) for the last 16 years (11 years at Preston Arts Center in New Albany).
Her painting, Transcendence, was chosen for the cover art for Splash 13, The Best of Watercolor, Alternative Approaches, published by North Light Books in 2012. Cathy has over 13 years of teaching experience (11 years at Preston Arts Center in New Albany).

Classes run for 6 sessions (once a week) for 2.5 hours and are offered on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday afternoons and Monday and Tuesday evenings. Classes are small (5-12 people) and are for adults (serious teenagers are also welcome). The instruction offered is very flexible: beginners have structured lessons while more advanced students may work on their own projects with guidance. She is presently teaching at the Arts Council of Southern Indiana.
